Electrical/Electronics Engineering

Electrical/ Electronic Engineering Technology skills remains one of the most popular majors in Nigerian polytechnics. It serves as an excellent preparation for the students, the foreign service, and positions in the public or private sector that involve research, analysis, construction and building. Electrical Electronic Engineering Technology Department was approved by the institution in 2009 sequel National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) successful Resource accreditation. The department was further strengthen in April 2012 after another successful NBTE visit for course FULL accreditation in October 2009. At the present time in electrical electronic engineering technology department there are 55 students, 24 of them are in ND II while 31 are in ND 1, the department has produced 38 ND graduate so far, 8 graduate for 2009 set, 12 graduate for 2010 and 18 graduate for 2011.

Kuponiyi D. S. was the pioneer acting Head of Department (from 2009 to February 2014). The headship was later given to Oyebola B. O, who took over from Febr. 27Th, 2014 till October 2015. After which it was handed over to Eko M. A. who has being at head of the department from October 2015 till date.

The department vision is to train technically outstanding technicians to foster growth in innovative industry. The department language is Practical ; impact a hand-held working skills on students with modern cutting edge technology, using micro-controller in modern Electrical engineering Technology.

The Department is also scheduled to commence training of  technicians, craftsmen and artisans with skills required to build a career in the nation power sector.

  1. Four credit level passes at senior school certificate examination (SSCE) or its equivalent  at not more than TWO sittings. The four subjects must include Mathematics, Physics and any TWO other science subjects. At least a pass in English Language is required.
  2. The National Technician Certificate (NTC) in electrical trade with credit passes in Mathematics, Physics and ONE other subject. Also a pass in English Language is mandatory.
  3. Four credit passes in an NBTE recognized preliminary ND course offered in a polytechnics or similar post secondary technical institution. The credit passes must include Mathematics, Physics any TWO science subjects. Candidates must in addition obtain at least a pass in English language.
