A call has gone out to the Nigerian youths to take advantage of the government and private sector initiative for a better enabling environment. The charge was made at the 10th inauguration of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Ogun State chapter.
In her address, the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Her Excellency, Engr. Noimot Salako- Oyedele, urged the youths to build the nation by taking advantage of the available partnerships across all sectors because “without taking a shot, a goal cannot be scored”.
While commending the dedication and passion of the Council, she maintained that the Ogun state government under the leadership of His Excellency, Prince (Dr.) Dapo Abiodun has harnessed the positive dividends from the enabling environments created by the investors towards the provision of employment opportunities for the youths to thrive and prosper.
Calling for more investment in entrepreneurship activities and mentorship programs, she maintained that the need to make maximum use of the talented youths is because “our youths will bring forth innovative ideas and initiatives to address the teeming challenges in the country.
She said “The youths, as we all know, are the backbone and future of any nation. Their energy, creativity, and resilience are invaluable assets that when properly harnessed, can propel our nation to greatness. As a government, we recognize the immense potential of our youths and are committed to creating an enabling environment for them to thrive.
While appreciating the Council for the Outstanding Woman of the Year award given to her in December 2022, Engr. Noimot noted that in the face of a rapidly changing world, the youths face unique challenges that require immediate attention.
Lending his voice, the special guest of the occasion who also doubles as the Rector, Gateway (ICT) Polytechnic Saapade, Dr. Sanni Kehinde Oseni said it is not an understatement to say that youths are the leaders of tomorrow.
He explained that the youths hold the key to shaping the destiny of Nigerians because incredible potentials reside among them.
He urged the youths to engage in innovative skills that will drive the desired change. “An educated youth is an empowered force that can transform the landscape of Nigeria. With fearlessness and passion, youths can create job opportunities and likewise, contribute to the building of a robust and diverse economy”.
“Every successful business starts with a bold idea and a determination. Be the voice that demands accountability, transparency and good governance. Never underestimate the power of unity and collaboration. Unity strengthens our collective resolve and also ensures that efforts towards development are inclusive and sustainable, he advised.
He further urged the youths to play a supportive role towards building a prosperous, equitable and sustainable nation as every participation beacon hope to the future generation for a brighter and more prosperous Nigeria.
