Brief History

The Governing Council of the Polytechnic in conjuction with the Natiinal Board for Technical Education (NBTE) approved the establishment of the Department of Marketing in 2016 to cater for the training of high level manpower needs in Ogun State and in Nigeria at large. This initial 'Resource Accreditation' witnessed the admission of the first set of students in 2017/2018 Academic Session with an enrolment far beyond the institution expectations.

The Department commenced operation under the School of Management and Liberal Studies (SMLS) until faculty restructuring in the Polytechnic in 2018, which then rebirthed the deparment under the School of Management and Business Studies (SMBS).

The pioneer Ag. HOD then was Mr. MUSARI, Adedayo A, with unwavering supports from seasoned and qualified academic staff. We would like to acknowledge Miss. Ogunbanjo Olufunmi A, Miss. Oguntuga A.O., and Mr. Banjo Julius O, just to mention a few.


The Department still runs a-two year National Diploma (ND) Programme in Marketing, after an outstanding execution of the first mandate given to her by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) in 2016.

The second visit of NBTE in December 2019 climaxed the success story of this unique Department, as the Department secured FULL ACCREDITATION STATUS to continue her success story with more streams of students.


Presently

The current Ag. HOD, Mr ADEBANJO, Oludotun A; has always credited this feat to the unending supports from the management of the Polytechnic and the unalloyed steadfastness of the academic and non-academic staff of the department.

This development has further geared the Governing Council of the Polytechnic to leave no stone unturned in fine tuning approval for the commencement of the Higher National Diploma (HND) Programme in Marketing by December 2020.

Departmental Units

The following units are available in the department as enshrined in the laws establishing it. These units are set up to boost the practical training and on-the-job inpartation and acquisition of the right skill sets for every student in the department before the completion of the “ND” Programme.

  • Marketing Mini-Mart
  • Marketing Studio.

  • Subjects Required for Application:

    SSCE / WAEC /GCE / NECO with at least five credits at two sittings
    English Language (not Literature in English), Mathematics and any three subjects from the following: Economics/Commerce, Business Methods/Business Studies/Business Management, Accounts/Book Keeping, Literature in English, Typewriting, Shorthand, Statistics, Geography, History/Government/Civic Education, Biology/Agricultural Science/ General Agriculture, Office Practice, Insurance/Marketing, Computer Study/Data Processing,
    OR:
    NABTEB: At least 5 credits at two sittings which must include Mathematics, English Language, Physics,any other two subject from the following:

  • GENERAL EDUCATION COMPONENTS (Two subjects from the following) : Economics/Commerce, Physics/Chemistry, Government, Literature in English, Social Studies and Biology.
  • TRADE COMPONENT/TRADE RELATED COMPONENT (One Subject from the following) : Principles of Accounts, Social Studies, Office Practice, and Information Communication Technology.
